From the moment we stepped off the plane, beautiful Barbados was exploding in hospitality. We were greeted by local entertainment at the airport before being swept away to our resort! There’s nothing as refreshing as the cool lemongrass-scented towel and sparkling glass of champagne that welcomed us upon check-in.
We stayed at a smaller resort, and treated ourselves to a Butler-Service room category. Our room was elegant! We had the opportunity to partake in the ultimate relaxation. The in-room tranquility tubs made it easy to relax. From our room we were able to hike through the exotic resort gardens and explore the two pools. From the active pool swim up bar you can enjoy a stunning view of the ocean!
The beach was certainly a highlight! The soft, white powder sand seemed to go on forever. Palm trees lined the beach, which provided the perfect amount of shade on hot afternoons. For the water sport lovers, the wavy waters made for good wind sailing conditions and certainly an adventurous kayaking experience.
While on the island we participated on an Island Tour. This allowed us to experience the island and see what life is like in Barbados. Our day included touring the Rum Plantation, walking the boardwalk, and hanging out with/feeding the whooping monkeys. I loved getting to see Rhianna’s house and the gold course where Tiger Woods got married! On Friday, we walked into the quaint downtown area (only a few blocks from our resort) to experience Oistins Friday Fish Fry. A fun local tradition! It was similar to a food-truck style event. Locals hauled in their grills and set up on the block to prepare their fresh catch of the day. We had the opportunity to enjoy the delicious fish while perusing the are other venders who set up selling art and craft items, handmade in the area. Overall, we enjoyed the cultural aspects of this charming island, on the Caribbean Sea!
