Le Blanc Cancun 2019
CARE Travel President, Niki Rakowitz, attended the first ever Female Leaders in Travel Conclave at the end of July. In attendance were 23 prominent travel advisors from across North America. With a combined total annual sales of more than $600 million dollars, these women are amazing. At the event attendees shared stories behind their success. They also offered learning tools, business lessons, and personal development tips. Niki had the opportunity to experience the Le Blanc Spa and Resort in Cancun where the event was held. Hospitality and customer enjoyment are key and she had the experience of a lifetime at a turtle release.
One of the main focuses of this event was to emphasize the importance of support amongst women as the foundation to business leadership. Women leaders within the travel industry face different challenges. This support centered gathering was so groundbreaking. They recognized challenges and proposed solutions.
Luminary Award
Grupo Lomas Travel´s Dolores López Lira was awarded the first ever Luminary Award. She has supported female travel agents and travel tour operators for nearly 4 decades! Dolores López Lira described the tough business choices that she and her co-founder husband Joe Martinez made over 38 years of running Mexico´s most loved DMC. Going back to when it all began in 1981, in Acapulco, Sra. Dolores described how gender discrimination nearly cost her the chance to become a travel agency director. Thanks to her relentless drive and determination, she overcame gender related obstacles by opting to start her own business. Eventually she worked her way to the top of the travel industry. Her husband José Martínez Alday has continued to support her.
Women Supporting Women
